Madre Labs may not be such a well-known supplements brand but it is certainly worth of some attention, since it comes with innovative functional whole-food nutrition and personal care products. This is a company that adheres to all quality standards and fabricates its products in California, US. What makes it remarkable is that it also manufactures products suitable to Muslims – for example these fish oil capsules without any pork gelatin, which can be hard to come by.
Omega 3 Premium Fish Oil from Madre Labs is an all-natural concentrate from cold water fish oil. What makes it special is that it contains molecularly distilled oils, with the following EPA and DHA quantities: respectively 180 & 120 mg. The capsules are made with fish gelatin, glycerin and water, but also with a bit of Vitamin E and soy derivatives. The ingredients make these soft, gel-like.
You can purchase a bottle with 100 softgels on the manufacturer’s website, as well as with other online herbs and supplements vendors. There isn’t much of a price difference if you want to buy these. A bottle costs about $6-7.
Taste and Directions
It is recommended to take 2 softgels per day so there are 50 servings in a whole container. If your doctor tells otherwise, then follow their advice. As long as you take these quickly with plenty of water, you don’t get to feel the fish oil taste. In any case, the softgels are coated with a rather neutral-tasting gelatin so there should be no problem.
The Premium Fish Oil should be used like a dietary supplement. It is not meant as a replacement for the beneficial fats in the diet. There is no cholesterol in it, so you don’t have to worry about this. The product comes packed in a well engineered and sealed bottle, to preserve its freshness.
The oils come from fish species like anchovy and sardine. In each softgel, you get 2 grams total fat, which translates to 20 calories only. The content is also suitable to external use, when combined with beauty oils, creams etc. Consumers have noticed positive effects on skin. However, ingesting fish oil rich in Omega-3 is beneficial to the heart especially, but also to the muscular system.
One thing about this cannot be fully understood: why it’s labeled as “cruelty free”, since this should only apply to non-animal products; this one is clearly based on fish oil. Finally, buyers should note one more thing. Even if this is a healthy supplement that supports so many bodily functions, you shouldn’t take this without knowing everything about your health (conditions, allergies etc.). Pregnancy may pose a restriction to it as well.
